08 Speed mentoring enlightenments and conclusions

After the speed mentoring, we had a lot of things to decide, but mainly we needed to focus on what is relevant and essential to us for the current phase of our process. We went through all the notes we got from the mentors and agreed on the points we felt that were the strongest and most crucial:

1) Allow the user to swipe for prior sentences in case he meant another one.

2) Think of a way in which there will be no confusion between the record button and the 'catch app' button. The order of the actions should be precise and not confusing for the user.

3) Define which kind of content you want to deliver. Is it an image? Translation? Diagram? Text? Whatever you choose make sure it achieves the purpose.

We all agreed that these 3 points are the most crucial now and that by solving them we will support and tighten our VMP.

The first 2 points are a matter of UX and design while the 3rd one is a matter of what is possible technologically and also something we need to base upon usability testing. Therefore our next steps were to rethink about the UX and find new ways to align all the information and at the same time continue with the user testing and see which feedbacks are we getting regarding the quality of the content.

We came up with an idea to confront the user with an access request to record as he opens the APP. That way we saved the need of dealing with it during the 'main flow.' Regarding the record button we just pushed it to the bottom of the screen to make it feel secondary compared to the central button, and also, we added animated feedback of the record, so the user will know that It's currently occurring.

For the prior sentences matter, we decided to add a 'SWITP LEFT RIGHT' caption so the user will understand he can move between sentences. We also agreed that technology wise it means we are always recording in short Segmentation that represents the different phrases.

We conducted a small user testing based on what we were able to arrange. We prepared in advanced Translations for terms in a Statistics lecture and passed it along three French students. They all said they didn't find the images helpful, but they did find the explanations useful. Although we can't forget that we had another student from a prior user testing we did that said the images were beneficial. Therefore we understand that Text is our primary tool and pictures are a matter of context. Some terms require more visual support than others. We will continue to examine it in our future user testing.

Next for us is to start preparing for our presentation at Microsoft. We need to finalize, and accurate our product, work on our flow and use cases and try to develop a sufficient demo to show during the presentation. WORK IS NEVER DONE!
